Lubumbashi is a major city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated in the south east of the country near the Zambian border and has a population of around 900,000.
It is a transportation centre for mineral products such as copper, cobalt, zinc, cadmium, germanium, tin, manganese, and coal which are mined in the surrounding areas.
